Program Manager - Applications

The Applications Program Manager is responsible for successful delivery of new capability and transition within a highly regarded outsourcing organisation. This includes technology, business change and service transformation. The role requires the effective co-ordination of the projects and their inter-dependencies and any risks and other issues that may arise. The Program Manager is responsible for the overall integrity and coherence of the program by developing and maintaining a program environment capable of supporting each individual project within it - typically through a Program Office function.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and designing the program and proactively monitoring its overall progress, resolving issues and initiating corrective action as appropriate Defining the project governance structure and status reporting channels; Quality assurance and overall integrity of the program - Ability to deliver multiple projects using a variety of methodologies within the same program; Managing the program's budget, monitoring the expenditures and costs against delivered and realised benefits as the program progresses; Managing third party contributions and costs to the program; Managing the communications with all stakeholders up to board level; Managing risks to the program's successful outcome; Initiating extra activities and other management interventions wherever gaps in the program are identified or issues arise; Reporting progress of the program at regular intervals to the program director; Build credible, trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders at all levels of the organisation;
Experience
20+ Years Senior Project or Program Management Good problem-solving and analytical skills Effective leadership and communications skills Experience in at least 3 of the following Transition Management, Service Delivery, Application Management, Application Delivery or Business Change Consulting experience - Defence SECRET clearance
Additional Requirements
Ability to command respect and to create a sense of community amongst the often disparate members of the project teams Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies - PMBOK, PRINCE2 Sound knowledge of program planning and control techniques Demonstrable experience of large scale budget and resource allocation responsibility Sufficient seniority and credibility to advise other project teams on the impact they will have on the program Strong influencing skills and ability to positively and sensitively work with senior stakeholders Strong relationship management skills, with the ability to find ways of solving or pre-empting problems
